Alright so, I am obsessed with the idea that Jason has personally pissed off the Fates and that’s why his life sucks so much.

In both series that he appears in he has been slapped with a death prophecy almost immediately after getting involved in the plot. In each death prophecy it’s his life weighed up against the life of somebody he cares about a lot - his best friend, and then his girlfriend.

I’m sorry but somebody wants this boy dead.

And I am convinced it’s because he keeps wriggling out of his own death.

In The Lost Hero, everything is fine and normal right up until the end where they free Juno. And then Jason fucking dies. But because the doors of death are open and Piper yells at him until he stops being dead, he just - comes back.

Not long after that narrow escape they’re back at CHB and Rachel vomits up the prophecy of seven which demands either Jason or Leo die. Because Jason was supposed to be dead. And you can’t cheat Fate.

Jason gets away with it again when Leo takes the hit. And maybe, maybe, that would’ve satisfied The Fates. Jason should be dead, but they’ll accept taking somebody else in his place if it comes to it.

Except Leo doesn’t die either.

So then not too long after that, the first real demigod business Jason gets involved with again in ToA, going into the burning maze to see what’s up - he gets another death prophecy. This time it’s demanding either he or Piper die.

Like, they left him alone for a bit as far as we know. But they were still owed one dead demigod, so they had to try again to collect on him. I fully believe if he’d wiggled out of it again somehow that he’d just keep getting new ultimatums.

Obviously there was, what? A couple months from the end of HoO to the burning maze fiasco, and during that time Leo was running around and clearly not dead. It seems like they left him alone there. Fair enough. But we just didn’t see what was happening around Jason in those couple months. I like to think it’d gotten to sitcom levels of trying to end this boy.

Like remember that episode of Supernatural where that one Fate put out a hit on Sam and Dean, and there’s that little sequence of them walking across town afraid of dogs and skateboarders and fire jugglers and every little thing that could accidentally take them out?

I like the idea of probably oblivious Jason wandering around on dates with Piper narrowing avoiding being hit by a bus every time they cross the street, or nearly choking on hotdogs or something. Until he got back to work and they could pull out the big prophecy guns again.

I just think it works and makes sense because he did die at the start, and then it just keeps trying to happen. So I’ve taken it from when we first meet him in HoO. The alternative is that this has been going on already though. Remember when he first meets Chiron and the first thing Chiron says to him is “You should be dead.” And he looks uncomfortable and shocked, and we literally never got any explanation for why he thought Jason should be dead? Maybe he and the Fates have had beef since he was like seven and he just keeps getting lucky.

Doesn’t have to be the Fates of course. Could be Thanatos. But somebody definitely had beef with this kid.

Holy crap, okay, somebody left a comment on Ao3 and my brain has been vibrating ever since. So now I want opinions.

Spoilers for TOA, specifically TBM

So, say Jason somehow survives the burning maze - and then goes fully bonkers against Jupiter, like Luke 2: Electric (lol, get it?) Boogaloo.

Who, if anyone, from any camp or anywhere else, do you think would potentially side with him against Jupiter if he was starting a rebellion of sorts.

Nobody is also an acceptable answer.

Absolutely tell me anyone and any reason, even if it’s made up or a headcanon, but also, if anyones got opinions that sound plausible in canon as it stands up to the burning maze.
